Partnering with all kinds of beloved local and heavy-hitting national arts and culture organizations, Jazz & Beyond delivers 15 days of music, art, film, and dance to showcase northwestern Nevada’s vibrant arts community. ![]() Set against the eastern Sierra in the heart of one of the most famously historic neighborhoods in the Silver State, the Mile High Jazz Band Association (MJHBA) of Carson City presents the Jazz & Beyond Festival, returning with live concerts and activities happening all across town.īlues, Latin, bluegrass, and tango jazz is the name of the game at the 15-day Jazz & Beyond Festival, with exciting live music, art, film, and dance performances happening all over town in Nevada’s Capital City every August. ![]() This is presented by the Brewery Arts Center in cooperation with the Levitt AMP Foundation.The arts of Nevada’s Capital City take center stage! Part of the Carson City events scene for nearly 20 years, the feast your ears on the musical delights of northwestern Nevada’s largest and most exciting jazz festival. Carson city jazz festival series#The Levitt AMP Series presents KAB and Lonesome Polecat at 7:00 p.m., opening for featured group Southern Drawl at around 8:00 p.m. We welcome them back to provide their original material (lots of it) and some borrowed works.ħ:00 pm - 10:00 pm Levitt concert with Southern Drawl, and KAB and Lonesome Polecat Bill Rose and Laurie Blue have been entertaining in the locations in Virginia for a number of years. Two voices, two guitars, and an occasional flute or cajon accompaniment make for a special sound. This performance is brought to you by Comma Coffee.Ģ:30 pm - 4:30 pm Bill Rose and Laurie Blue Kantu Inka also performs concerts in restaurants and cafés and designs Andean instrument workshops.ġ1:00 am - 1:00 pm Colleen Medina and her TrioĬolleen Medina and her trio will be performing at Comma Coffee Courtyard from 11:00 a.m. During the presentations, students are encouraged to play the instruments, to dance to Peruvian rhythms, and to interact with the musicians who present while wearing colorful clothing of the Andes. ![]() Julie and Carlos have designed presentations in English or Spanish that meet numerous national world language and social studies academic content standards. Julie is a national board certified Spanish teacher who plays zampoña and percussion for Kantu Inka. Carson city jazz festival professional#A professional Andean musician and composer, Carlos is proficient on zampoña, quena, bombo, charango, and guitar. Carlos Ocampo and Julie Lozada Ocampo unite their musical and teaching experience performing as Kantu Inka (formerly Dúo Kantu). Since 2003, Kantu Inka has been teaching Peruvian culture, history and geography with Andean instruments to over 30,000 students of all ages in Nevada and California. ![]()
